Netflix’s Black Warrant has been getting great reviews and is currently one of the most watched series in India. Zahan Kapoor, the show is star, is also receiving praise from critics for his performance. But did you know that when Zahan was first asked to try out for the show, he declined? Let us investigate.
In a recent interview, the actor recalled that casting director Mukesh Chhabra had phoned him for this role, but he was unable to accept because he was working on his play at the time.
“I was actually opening my play at the time, Siachen, literally three days before opening night. I said, ‘I would love to audition, but I really don’t have the headspace right now,'” he revealed.
Eventually, he got a 10-day extension, which he used to read the original book on which the show is based. However, he was still in doubt as to whether he would get the show after his initial meeting with director Vikramaditya Motwane.
After a few weeks of silence, I received a call stating that we are interested. After I went in for another audition, I eventually received a call stating that the director wanted to meet with me. I had never met Vikram sir before that.
“I went into his office, and I was very nervous, and I was like, ‘First of all, I have to tell you what a big fan I am,'” Zahan explained, describing the conversation. I am ecstatic. Even after that, I thought, “So it is done?” He never even fully approved of me. Simply put, “we will see,” he continued.
